Consequently, after 3 months a new native Google Maps apps for iOS devices was released on December 13, 2012.Moreover, the timing was apt as it came as a Christmas gift for many who have become quite goaded with the built –in iOS 6 Maps that Apple offers.

This new app is available in almost 40 countries and in 29 languages. It is masterfully designed for iOS and its efficient interface will make navigation much easier for the iPhone users. Many people are now busy upgrading to iOS 6 or an iPhone 5.

Google Map app establishes functions which were earlier restricted to Android users. It has enabled one to have higher quality map experiences with many advanced features than before which includes:

  • Extensive ,easy to use and accurate maps with built –in Google local search

Hence, the new released Google Maps is enhanced than the old Google Maps on the iPhone. But all its credit goes to Apple to re-launch this new impressive app .With this, Google also included a brand new SDK for Developers and a simple URL scheme so that they can employ Google’s maps and data on the iPhone instead of Google Maps when building their apps. It is built on Open GSL like a game which makes it exceedingly striking and interesting. The new Google Maps app is available free for iPhone and iPod touch (4th gen) iOS 5.1 and higher. However, it doesn’t encompass iPad yet but surely it will work on iPad in the near future.

Finally the efforts put for the last seven years paid off well with this new advanced app. The vast detail in which information is exhibited with the new swipe gestures is really remarkable. However, there are lots of debates going on among the consumers concerning which is superior- the Apple Maps or the Google Maps. There are few who still prefer Apple Maps as they find it more polished and advanced. But surely Apple will soon work on its own product to make it better .Whatever the case is, both Google and Apple has benefited with this new development.

It’s distressing news to find out what’s going on with search results .Dan Petrovich, a SEO has elucidated in details about his hijacking few pages in Google in his recent article. He also illustrated his copied version over the original version of the page. The outcome has puzzled Google with the result that a specific page can appear in place of another. The first thing he did to prove this is to copy the source code and the entire page including everything and put it across a fresh URL on his site .Then he  linked to the page and gave it a +1.And it worked!

In similar ways, Dan also experimented with few more domains but the results varied from one another. With his findings, hopefully very soon Google will figure out about hijacking issues with duplicate content.

There are many high volume keywords when typed for Google search resulted in some absolutely irrelevant information which are no way related to the specified keyword. This is not limited to only keywords but for many blogs which have been ragged from beginning to end. The saddest part is that such copied blogs are even ranked much above than the original.

It is important to note that one can lose lot of traffic due to duplicate content on most of the sites. Duplicate content is one of the most promising problems which can affect a website’s success with Google. Hence Duplicate content is a big no-no as it dilutes branding and negatively affects ranking .Many times Duplicate content can arise due to technical issues. One of the issues for inadvertent duplicate problem could arise due to many similar but slightly different categories of products or due to bad or mis -configured content management system (CMS).At times duplicate content can also come up if a particular website is categorized under target market rather than by product type and the products are found in each categories with different URLs.

There are many ways to filter out the search results and check duplicate content. This includes:
  • The most prevalent and simplest way is to copy a small piece of the content from various pages of the website, and then adds quotation marks and do a Google search.
  • The second way to check duplicate content is to visit   Google Webmaster Tools account. One can find “HTML Improvements ”under “optimization” .If one selects “Duplicate Title tags” one may immediately find out some duplicate content existing in one’s website which for sure one  has no clue before.
  • Yahoo also offers a similar service for Webmaster’s that can enable one with more results on duplicate content.
