Twitter to launch Geo-Targeting Advertisement by this Year

6/27/2013 12:37:00 pm

Sammy is in Albine road and searching Twitter on her mobile for a McDonald outlet nearby for lunch. She got her result after doing an organic search. She was thinking if she would have got it immediately!!!

Sammy has to wait not much because Twitter is planning to let brands show promoted tweets to customers in their applications within the immediate vicinity of their stores and could be ready as soon as the fourth quarter. This is called geo-targeted marketing.

Even as geo-targeting across other advertising medium such as TV, print, or online may be nothing new, geo-targeting on mobile goes one step further by enabling advertisers to target consumers on the move,  based on their propinquity to a particular store or service provider at the exact moment that the ad is shown.

Ad Age quotes two sources familiar with the matter who say that Twitter is developing a hyper-specific geo-targeting ad product that will let retailers catch customer’s attention when they are in the neighbourhood of their stores.

This type of real-time advertisement could be very helpful for customers as they are alerted with new deals, promotions, offers available at the nearby stores through tweets. Retailers could target specific audiences with their advertisement.

Twitter currently has the option for advertisers to have city based ads and does not pop to the vicinity of the stores, like Facebook has been doing since 2011. Today, Facebook has become the main source of social advertising for small business.  Twitter has not been a meaningful advertising option which will change soon. But this geo-fencing would only be a promoted tweet for Sammy or a useful feature of Twitter….that will be answered soon!!

Latest Google Update

Google Talks about their latest updates

6/20/2013 12:44:00 pm

Finally, we got Mat Cutts, Google’s head of search spam, on a random chat with Danny Sullivan, in SMX Advanced, the search marketing conference 2013 and he unraveled Google’s latest and upcoming mystery moves to the awaiting world.  The question-answer round that followed is quite interesting and I have extracted some key points out of that. Cutts was so excited that he went on explaining and announcing so many new things Google has planned to come up with and it will obviously be interesting to the SEO professionals.

Peak of the Talk:

1) Google’s latest search algorithm update targeting Payday Loan like spammy queries: Google has come up with a set of new search algorithm the target of which is spammy queries like Payday Loan, casino terms, pornographies – such heavily spammed searches and wrongly configured mobile sites and illegally built SEO and links.

2) Google’s Monthly Panda Roll: Google thought of updating Panda algorithm regularly, suppose once in a month. It will be like a repetitive cycle getting updates in a particular time and emitting its impact for the next 10 days. From now on Google has no need to announce Panda Rolling update for the cycle will be renewed every month on that particular period.

3) Inclusion of URLs in Google Webmaster Notifications as Examples to make you aware: Having URLs pasted on Google Webmaster Notifications will make problem areas clearly understandable. This facility is coming very soon. For each penalty you get from Google, you will find sample URLs (showing how you got penalties) which will give you a clear idea of how to make your link penalty-proof.

4) Google’s Speed Penalty for Mobile Websites: Google is introducing a speed measuring factor for mobile websites. There is still enough time, webmasters and SEO professionals update your mobile sites for catching up with Google’s speed monitoring tool. However, Cutts didn’t explain it in detail as this feature is still in potentia but it’s better always to make preparations early.

5) Newly Structured Google Dashboard: Google Dashboard will get a new Beta look. You will see more errors, messages and more reporting based on the data structuring which you built your website.

Google’s New Move in Algorithm

Google’s New Move in Algorithm to Track Spam namely Payday Loans

6/19/2013 10:58:00 am

Google’s Search Engine has got a new garb putting which it will be able to trace the spam queries linked with payday loans, pornographic and casino terms and other randomly indiscriminate searches listed as heavy spams and illegally built links. Previously spammy queries were not the target of Google’s Search Team but they had promised to think about it in near future. And following it the news of the arrival of this search engine update from Google was in the air for a few months and finally its official announcement was done by Matt Cutts, Google’s Search Spam Head, in Twitter. Not a week has passed and people are showing a good deal of interest to know in detail about the new update. Well, this change is not something that will be confined to the U.S., Google is looking forward to its global effect.

And it’s not a good news for you if you have a bad mobile website for your site is bound to be affected.  Google has made you aware of their future ranking changes in advance and if you are one of those few who didn’t pay heed to the post of Google Webmaster Central Blog hurry up and configure the SEO algorithm in a right way to avoid Google’s grasp. Especially the smartphone users are going to face many errors with wrongly configured sites.

It’s a new experiment on Google’s part and as far statistical data is given, only 0.3% of the U.S. querries are affected as an impact of the new move. But Matt is hopeful about its upcoming effect as he says, for high spam Turkish queries the impact is 4% approx.

5 New Approaches for SEO Success

Responsive Web design Brings 5 New Approaches for SEO Success

6/14/2013 11:27:00 am

Today’s world is proliferated with gadgets. Gadgets, new and updated, are arriving in the market every other day and they have become indispensably attached with people’s daily lives. Nobody has the time to sit in front of a desktop computer monitor and browse all day. We have mobile devices from which we connect internet whenever needed, no matter where we are the whole universe is under the World Wide Web. So, keeping this background in mind the first thing that should come into the mind of a SEO professional is how to build up a website that is easily accessible from all devices. Responsive Web Design is the solution of your head-scratching problem. This approach makes a website adaptable with browsing devices from desktop to iPad Mini to the ones coming next. A website crafted applying Responsive Web Design shifts its layout, reducing the need to scroll, resize or pan for best viewing, according to the device’s screen.

I thought of starting with a few words about Responsive Web Design, as an introduction to the five positive sides of RWD that I am going to discuss now. Five hands that RWD lends a SEO :

  • High Local Page Rank
  • On-site SEO Efforts Applicable
  • Content Creativity
  • No Need to change the Links
  • Google Preference

Aim at High Local Page Rank : Research says that a handsome portion of total web search comes from Mobile App and Mobile Devices. Mobile users can track a website while on the move and they are seizing this opportunity. What you have to do as a SEO professional is to meet your crafted site with the geo-specific parameters which govern the field of mobile search. This RWD approach will make your website rank high in Google search engine results. A mobile user will switch over another search engine result if your site is unable to provide what he requires in the first display. So, to get a high Page Rank in Google’s search engine result make your site responsive to mobile devices.

Onsite SEO Efforts Applicable: If you fear of losing your Onsite SEO Efforts and social sharing and thinking what’s the use of increasing cost for a separate design, let me make you clear of your doubts. Anchor Text, Internal Link structure, Title Tags, Meta Descriptions, Keywords, Content and Search Engine Friendly URLs – all your efforts to make your site rank high are still applicable in the arena of responsive design.

Content Creativity: Responsive Web Design demands creative content, otherwise your site will lose traffic in mobile search. Webmasters who transform their main content, by modifying and editing a bit, to the newly built responsive web design version of their site are likely to get disappointed.

No Need To Change the Links: If you already have an existing backlink to your website you can use the same for the RWD site. However those who are trying to make a separate RWD site, which will stand apart from their main site, need to start from level zero of link building.

Google Preference: Though search engines like Bing and Yahoo are emerging as competitors, we somehow feel attached with Google and give more importance to Google Search Engine rankings. Google is a strong supporter of responsive web design as it increases creativity and as it is following industry demand.
To sum up, try to maintain a same HTML serving all devices and CSS media queries and make your website adaptable to all views as that’s the recent credo of the industry!

3 Steps to Glide Through Link Building Block

3 Steps to Glide Through Link Building Block

6/13/2013 12:18:00 pm

If you are working in the domain of SEO you might have faced one time or the other the sudden stumbling block in your smooth roadway to link building. You may start up enthusiastically with a vision in your mind and a particular plan to turn your conception of mind into virtually existing material reality, but your plan is restrained to fly free by time and clauses of your clients. Day by day link building makes you certain about those factors that actually gets the website high PageRank and more promotional traffic and knowing very well what will work, you tend to be formulaic in the creative process of building link. The obvious result is your work becomes tedious and tiresome to you, you lose the positive energy which is very essential to succeed in any form of work be it small or big. This state of inertia is the ultimate block that you have to throw away in order to regain your creative spirit. Why not make your work more interesting?

Stick to Sticky Notes

There cannot be any second choice other than sticky notes if you want to squeeze creative ideas from the brains of your hardworking team. Gather all your fellow team members and all of you write down some clicking ideas that you think will be fruitful in building the promotional link for your client. I’m sure you will agree on certain points, that means, certain points will be common among all. Following a short discussion you will get a handful of new and innovative ideas that executed will definitely bring some magic. So, the point is if you are drained of ideas borrow it from others.

Guest Blogging, not always

Don’t expect that only guest blogging can bring you traffic. Instead a group analysing of clients’ demands, reviewing the budget sheet, drawing a clear picture of available resources and determining strategic steps towards creation of links will help. Try to hold these meetings after regular intervals. Otherwise this solution may not turn out to be helpful.

Communicate with Clients

The most important factor all SEO experts should keep in mind is that you should have a crystal clear view of the sales and buying processes of your clients and prioritize accordingly. Superficial ideas never did any lasting impact on work and it never can be.

Sales process: If the client is someone from the Sales Department of the company, ask him/ her what qualities do they want for a good lead and preferably test the limits (of attracting lead) of your newly built site on a potential customer.

Buying process: Make a market survey on existing customers and would-be customers of your client and analyse the comparison carefully. You will come to know about the essentialities that draw more traffic and more customers, about the features that make a product consumer-favourite.

Sales and Buying processes jointly establish a company’s future and knowledge of the future will make you confident in your work of link building.

A Panoramic View of Penguin 2.0

A Panoramic View of Penguin 2.0: What’s benefiting for you and what’s not

6/07/2013 06:46:00 pm

As expected, Google announced its latest update in Google Penguin algorithm sometime near the end of May 2013 and named it Penguin 2.0. There has been so much speculation in the air about this next generation Penguin algorithm – what will be its effect and how it will affect the search engine rankings of websites as Google’s Engineer Matt Cutts has promised of Penguin 2.0’s deeper potency. Previously some legitimate websites and SEOs have lost search rankings following Google’s updates for tracking highest number of spammers. But that was not what Google has intended. Comparing to the first generation Google Penguin Algorithm which filtered around 3.1% web spam, this time the impact will last on 2.3% of English queries. Naturally webmasters are happy for this favourable step.

Penguin was launched by Google in April, 2012 and after a year has passed we get its new updates. Here we will make a discussion on what is actually working in Penguin and what is not while building links. And it’s better to start with the non-working methods for by the time I will close this topic with the positive remarks you will forget about the shortcomings.

Bookmark Block: Google Bookmarks are used to tag a website for quick access to your mostly visited pages. But this bookmarking procedure does not work with unbranded and unrecognised websites.

Abortive Article Marketing: Internet article marketing used as a business strategy often fails to get traffic. Low quality article marketing is very disheartening.

Disappointing Web 2.0: Penguin 2.0 has a bad impact on many business sites with SEO. If you are using web 2.0 properties for building your site links don’t expect any fruitful outcome.

Page Rank: Trying to create a high page rank profile will inevitably turn out to be discouraging.

Ineffective Link Building: Do not try to hoodwink tier 2 with SE Nuke, you will not succeed in this effort.

Non-supportive Private Network blog: With Penguin a private network blog which is meant for public does not work.

Failure in Press Release: Press Release works only with bona fide news.

Guest Blogging: Sorry to say but Guest Blogging, the most popular way of building links, does not work.

Now this is not for scaring you, there is a lot of supports Google lend to SEOs only you need to put some more effort and be more creative. Let us considers the positive sides of the coin.

Bookmarking: Keep your website active and update regularly, get your site bookmarked with a trusted website, create a personal account and bookmark those sites you are going to visit in future or you often visit and if you follow this you will get the better part of Google Bookmarking.

Web 2.0: Any content you publish in web 2.0 should be an attractively written unique article.  The updated Penguin will block the spun content if you are not creative and innovative enough.

Find PR Directories: Submit you website to the directory with High Page Rank profile.

Rank Your Website locale: Tag your geographic location in the map of Google Places.

Video Vision: You need to give your website a fantastic appearance adding videos related to your service.

Connect and Socialize: As much as you will share your views, website links, comments with social networking websites your business will spread worldwide.

Be a Blogger: Create a blog with your views and reviews and make sure it is maintained on a regular basis.

Guest Blogging: Guest Blogging definitely has productive outcome provided the blog has high PR.

There is no second choice other than being innovative: Use your intelligence and make your website unique. Google does not support stagnation. So be dynamic and updated and reflect this in your business website. Your website should be a manifestation of excellence and effort.

So, you may be feeling motivated. That is what Google aims. Don’t forget there is no shortcut to success and those who follow the shortcuts get lost in the blinding alleys of Penguin.
