A Panoramic View of Penguin 2.0: What’s benefiting for you and what’s not

As expected, Google announced its latest update in Google Penguin algorithm sometime near the end of May 2013 and named it Penguin 2.0. There has been so much speculation in the air about this next generation Penguin algorithm – what will be its effect and how it will affect the search engine rankings of websites as Google’s Engineer Matt Cutts has promised of Penguin 2.0’s deeper potency. Previously some legitimate websites and SEOs have lost search rankings following Google’s updates for tracking highest number of spammers. But that was not what Google has intended. Comparing to the first generation Google Penguin Algorithm which filtered around 3.1% web spam, this time the impact will last on 2.3% of English queries. Naturally webmasters are happy for this favourable step.

Penguin was launched by Google in April, 2012 and after a year has passed we get its new updates. Here we will make a discussion on what is actually working in Penguin and what is not while building links. And it’s better to start with the non-working methods for by the time I will close this topic with the positive remarks you will forget about the shortcomings.

Bookmark Block: Google Bookmarks are used to tag a website for quick access to your mostly visited pages. But this bookmarking procedure does not work with unbranded and unrecognised websites.

Abortive Article Marketing: Internet article marketing used as a business strategy often fails to get traffic. Low quality article marketing is very disheartening.

Disappointing Web 2.0: Penguin 2.0 has a bad impact on many business sites with SEO. If you are using web 2.0 properties for building your site links don’t expect any fruitful outcome.

Page Rank: Trying to create a high page rank profile will inevitably turn out to be discouraging.

Ineffective Link Building: Do not try to hoodwink tier 2 with SE Nuke, you will not succeed in this effort.

Non-supportive Private Network blog: With Penguin a private network blog which is meant for public does not work.

Failure in Press Release: Press Release works only with bona fide news.

Guest Blogging: Sorry to say but Guest Blogging, the most popular way of building links, does not work.

Now this is not for scaring you, there is a lot of supports Google lend to SEOs only you need to put some more effort and be more creative. Let us considers the positive sides of the coin.

Bookmarking: Keep your website active and update regularly, get your site bookmarked with a trusted website, create a personal account and bookmark those sites you are going to visit in future or you often visit and if you follow this you will get the better part of Google Bookmarking.

Web 2.0: Any content you publish in web 2.0 should be an attractively written unique article.  The updated Penguin will block the spun content if you are not creative and innovative enough.

Find PR Directories: Submit you website to the directory with High Page Rank profile.

Rank Your Website locale: Tag your geographic location in the map of Google Places.

Video Vision: You need to give your website a fantastic appearance adding videos related to your service.

Connect and Socialize: As much as you will share your views, website links, comments with social networking websites your business will spread worldwide.

Be a Blogger: Create a blog with your views and reviews and make sure it is maintained on a regular basis.

Guest Blogging: Guest Blogging definitely has productive outcome provided the blog has high PR.

There is no second choice other than being innovative: Use your intelligence and make your website unique. Google does not support stagnation. So be dynamic and updated and reflect this in your business website. Your website should be a manifestation of excellence and effort.

So, you may be feeling motivated. That is what Google aims. Don’t forget there is no shortcut to success and those who follow the shortcuts get lost in the blinding alleys of Penguin.
